MOUNTAIN MEADOW
Painting the Wildflowers of Montana
Montana's Many Glacier mountain range is one of the most beautiful in the world, and particularly attractive to me are the meadows of wildflowers that grow but a short distance from them. Not being able to film inside the national park (it's not legal to film commercially within a federal park), I've decided to paint the scene using my plein-air studies and a few photographs.
In this informative landscape video, we'll cover everything from color and value, to using reference studies to create a "from-life" look in the studio! Plus the importance of using brushwork to create varietyand a naturalistic look in your landscape paintings!

Rooftops of Montmartre
Limited Palette Plein Air
PARIS! One of the most beautiful and recognizable cities in the world, Paris has been an artist's dream destination for centuries. While staying in the hillside neighborhood of Montmartre, and on the terrace of a rooftop apartment seven stories high, I set up to paint this iconic scene that includes a breathtaking view of the Eiffle and a wide expanse of the city.
All of this was painted directly from life, and using only three colors plus white:
Yellow Ochre Pale
Cadmium Red
Ultramarine Blue Deep
